Pumpkins, Germany, And The Two Day Bookshelf

Good Monday to you!!

Fair warning, this post contains nothing about health or fitness. Just some random weekend fun!

Friday

As soon as I got off of work on Friday, Nathan and I headed to Branson with the Youth Group from our church for Youth Convention 2012 #Matter!!

It was such an amazing experience to see so many young people seeking God!

When we got to our hotel that night, they were having a pumpkin carving contest in the lobby! How wonderful considering it was National Pumpkin Day!! And they had some great ones!!

I am not really sure if you can call this 'carving.' It seems more like decorating. But it was still, by far, the coolest one there! Extra points for creativity!!

The hamburger was actual beef, and all the fixings are the real deal too. I have no idea what that hotdog was made out of!! But then, do you ever really know what a hotdog in made of?

This one didn't seem especially hard or creative but I thought the IV bag was an interesting touch. So props to vampire pumpkin!

Saturday

Of course when you travel with teenagers, who have no money and high metabolisms, you always have to make at least one stop to a local McDonalds...... oh boy.

Luckily that stop happened for breakfast. So I ordered the oatmeal and a coffee, which I thought was way overpriced but still filling, nutritious and delicious.

When we got back into town, we headed to CBC (Nathan's school) for the German Ethnic Festival! We are the VP's for Cord, which is the married student council, and so we planned this event along with a couple other student councils.

There were carnival games, food, giveaways, and of course, German Jepardy!!

(Can you spot the socks and sandals combo in this pic? CBC students be stylin!)

One of the categories was David Hasselhoff, which was very entertaining. Another was Famous Germans not named David Hasselhoff, which was also very clever ;)

After everything was over, I headed over to our new apartment to continue the slow moving process by putting together our new bookshelf. I have put together a million and one of these so I thought this would be no problem. Oh how wrong I was.

I had the whole thing together, and when I went to lift it up, a little metal connector broke right in half which put enough pressure on the rest to break them as well..... *sigh*

Sunday

So, being the amazing carpenter I am, I thought I could fix it with a little wood glue....

Nope.

So we took it back and got a new one. This time Nathan (who actually used to be a carpenter) helped me. We wood glued everything from the beginning and it finally came together.

Round two goes to us! Consider yourself a bookshelf, son!

I cannot wait until this weekend! We will be officially moved in and (probably) mostly unpacked and settled. With half of our stuff here and half there it is so hard to find the motivation (and the dishes) to cook healthy meals. And I am so worn out after spending my afternoon and evening packing, loading, unloading, and unpacking that I have missed quite a few workouts. But just one more week and things will be back to normal!

Thanks for following me through all of my craziness!

What was the highlight of your weekend? What was the coolest pumpkin you have ever carved/seen?
