The Date
Earlier this week a very wonderful person gave us a gift card to Longhorn Steakhouse! Nathan and I don't go out much right now to save funds for our up coming move, but if someone else is picking up the tab, I'm there!
We thought we were going to have to save it for a weeknight. Nathan works on the weekends so a normal Friday/Saturday/Sunday date night just wasn't in the plans. But then he got off early last night so we got to go after all!!
I had never been there before and I was very impressed. Low lighting and very quiet. Unlike many steakhouses here in town.
I started my meal off right with a Strawberry Pecan Salad.
It was so good, but the sweet vinaigrette with all of the fruits kind of made the onion seem out of place. So I picked it off. Other than that, perfect!
Then I ordered a Parmesan Crusted Chicken Breast with a side of Sweet Potato Bites. I asked the waitress about them before I ordered them. It seems like everywhere I go and order anything 'sweet potato' they COVER it in sugar. She said they were like tater tots (but sweet potato) cooked in sweetened butter. I went ahead and tried them and I am glad I did! You could taste the brown sugar but they were not too sweet at all! Just a hint....
I only finished half of the monstrous chicken breast. The other half is going to be great on a salad for lunch today!!
Nathan didn't have any trouble at all! He ordered some 20-something oz steak with a loaded baked potato....
And killed it.....
Then we shared a Chocolate Lava Cake.....mmmmm.
Game 1
As luck would have it, there was a tv on at the bar playing the Cardinal/Giants game.....
Woooo Hoooo!! One down for the Cardinals!! I am stoked!
Nathan and I are HUGE Cardinals fans!! My picture at the top of the page is from our Anniversary trip to a game. Did I also mention he took me there on our first date? Yup. So of course I married him. ;)
